[Shanghai, May 31, 2016] – Today, 3M, a world-leading diversified science and technology innovation enterprise, joined hands with the Trade Union of Urban Appearance and Environmental Sanitation Industry and the Urban Appearance and Environmental Sanitation Association of Minhang District to jointly launch the 2016 Sanitation Safety Publicity Campaign. The campaign aims to help sanitation workers enhance and strengthen their occupational safety awareness, and further promote society’s attention and investment in urban traffic safety. To this end, 3M also specially donated reflective markings for sanitation vehicles.

Meanwhile, we call on more people to pay attention to these urban beauticians who work on the front line every day, so as to further improve the construction of urban road safety."
At the event site, as a caring enterprise, 3M donated vehicle reflective markings, reflective vests, face masks and other supplies to frontline sanitation workers in Minhang District. Moreover, 3M staff patiently guided sanitation workers to try on reflective vests on site and demonstrated how to correctly affix the reflective markings to the bodies of sanitation vehicles, so as to maximize the visibility of these vehicles. The participating sanitation workers showed great interest and enthusiasm, and also launched an initiative titled Safe Driving, Standardized Operations, calling on all sanitation practitioners to strengthen the protection of their personal safety while standardizing their work processes.
With the rapid growth of China's automobile ownership and the accelerated development of expressways, reflective markings have been increasingly widely applied in urban traffic construction and played a significant role in safeguarding road traffic safety. The 983D Series vehicle reflective markings donated by 3M this time adopt microprism technology, which is specially designed for marking vehicle bodies (including the rear and sides) to enhance vehicle visibility. These reflective markings can provide excellent angular performance at 0° and 90° orientations, and the marked vehicles remain clearly visible even at incident angles exceeding 60°. This will help motor vehicles easily identify the width and height of sanitation vehicles in low-visibility conditions, thereby effectively avoiding traffic accidents.
As a leading brand in the reflective materials industry, 3M has been sparing no effort to promote the concept of urban traffic safety. Since 2008, 3M has joined forces with a number of public welfare organizations, education departments and traffic management authorities to successively carry out traffic safety-related public welfare activities across the country.
