[March 24, 2016, Shanghai] — Recently, 3M, a leading global diversified science and technology innovation company, announced a global partnership with Nobel Media to jointly advance development in the fields of innovation, education and scientific research.
By organizing inspiring events and exhibitions, and disseminating the legendary stories of Alfred Nobel and the remarkable achievements of Nobel laureates via digital media, Nobel Media has brought the Nobel Prize to the attention of millions of people around the world.
As one of Nobel Media’s global partners, 3M will provide its technical expertise and practical experience with both breadth and depth. In the years to come, 3M will also work with Nobel Media to focus on major global issues, such as scientific education and the future of sustainable development.
“We are honored that 3M and what it stands for align with the values embodied in Nobel Media and the Nobel Prize,” said Inge G. Thulin, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of 3M. “This partnership will give us the opportunity to jointly focus on education, and inspire and encourage more people to engage in the major issues that impact human life across the globe.”
Leveraging the shared brand values of Nobel Media and 3M to launch new concepts and initiatives, thereby expanding the influence of both parties, is a key factor driving this partnership.
“Through scientific research, we can continuously enrich the world’s knowledge pool and make the world a better place,” said Mattias Fyrenius, Chief Executive Officer of Nobel Media. “At Nobel Media, we are passionate about sharing our ideas with the world and inspiring more people to pursue areas close to their hearts — science, research, education, peace-related topics and literature. We believe we share the same values as 3M. Therefore, we are proud to announce today that Nobel Media will embark on a new partnership with 3M.”
3M will serve as a sponsor of the 2016 Nobel Prize Series Dubai, which was held on March 20 and 21. During the event, three Nobel laureates — Martin Chalfie (2008 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry), George F. Smoot (2006 Nobel Laureate in Physics) and Kurt Wüthrich (2002 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry) — gathered with business leaders, scholars, government officials and students. With the theme of Lifelong Learning, the Dubai event aimed to enhance public engagement in science.
